Geoff Steele Memorial Run October 11th 2018

On Thursday October 11th the Oxford Centre organised a 65 mile run in memory of the late Geoff Steele. 16 members of the VOC took part together with a further 5 from the local AJS/Matchless Owners Club. A number of wives, partners and other close acquaintances joined us for lunch.

We started from The Oxfordshire Yeoman in Freeland, Oxon and rode through the Cotswolds to Ilmington in nearby Warwickshire where we enjoyed mid-morning refreshments. Returning to Freeland we finished off up with lunch at the Yeoman, talked the usual Velo talk as well as swapped memories of Geoff.

All those who took part, including those who traveled from nearby Centres, enjoyed the ride and indicated we should make this an annual run.

Sand Motorcycles Leighton Buzzard Light Railway Sunday September 25th 2016 – Report

7 BMRCO members (including 2 OXVOC members) took part in the run from The Red Lion in Cassington to Leighton Buzzard Light Railway. Our route took in some wonderful roads through Buckinghamshire. On arrival at 11.00 hrs the field was already well filled with all manner of motorcycles and their respective owners. A few clubs had gazebos with either bikes on show or products for sale. All very low key and friendly.

After spending a couple of hours wandering the field and making contacts we returned to Cassington via the same route with a downpour thrown in for added interest.

In particular a number of VOC members (Woburn centre) had an official presence with a number of desirable machines on show including a MK7 KTT. I added my MAC to their collection.

I think it quite likely that the run to this venue will be repeated in 2017 and recommend that more of the membership join in. All members of the OXVOC are very welcome to attend.

The images below show the wide variety of wheels “on show”.

Easter Sunday Ride to Kemble airfield

Members

On Easter Sunday I am organising a ride on behalf of the BMRCO to the café at Kemble airfield.

The ride will start from The Red Lion in Cassington at 10.00 hrs and is approximately 40 miles long.

All members of the Oxford Section of the Velocette Owners Club are invited to join in the ride.

A straw poll of the BMRCO members present on Monday March 30th indicated that quite few intended to go weather permitting……with even a van in attendance.

Any questions please with contact me (Graham Lay) by phone or Email – see contacts page.

We will meet from 09.30 outside the Red Lion in Cassington and leave at 10.00 hrs sharp. Jan has kindly agreed to open up the pub and serve coffee.
